Volunteerism

Let's do good in our community.

We believe it is important to do something for the greater good of others. Volunteering and community service is one way to do so. Here at WeGo!, it is one of our greatest priorities to provide members with opportunities to give back to their community.

YWCA Clothing Drive

In conjunction with YWCA's Dress for Success Initiative, WeGo! collected over 250 lbs of clothing. We set up a donation box in which people could donate their unused clothing items. A group of volunteers sorted through and sanitized the donations and brought them to the YWCA Laniakea branch. Dress for Success is an initiative helping women prep for job interviews and land jobs.

Beach Cleanup at Kalama Beach Park

WeGo! hosted a successful beach cleanup at Kalama Beach Park with over 50 participants that helped remove over 300lbs of trash from the beach. Volunteers used sifters provided by Punahou Outdoor Education to collect microplastics which were donated to small businesses who use these microplastics in their products. The event helped promote sustainability and cleaner beaches as well as female student small businesses.

Beauty Drive

In conjunction with Partners in Care Oahu, WeGo! collected beauty products for houseless youth and women to feel beautiful in their own skin. Donations included beauty, hair, skin, shower, self care products. After boxes upon boxes of items were donated, collected, sorted, then sanitized, the products were brought to the downtown Partners in Care Oahu branch on February 5, 2021.

Ke`elikolani Middle School Campus Beautification

WeGo! leaders and Ke`elikolani Middle School's Young Women's Club work together to clean the campus and build connections! The WeGo! and Young Women’s clubs worked together to help with cleaning up the school grounds. Most girls raked leaves or power washed walls and stairs, but others trimmed overgrown plants and vines, picked weeds, and cleaned up trash. Everyone who participated played a part in making the campus look nice.
